Practical Drupal Commerce

Drupal Commerce is an open source e-commerce framework built specifically for Drupal 7. Its core modules define the basic components and systems you need to do business online without hard-coding assumptions for any particular business model.

The project’s strengths as a framework are a direct result of the international collaboration of developers, usability professionals, and early adopters from around the world. International contributors have again spearheaded the development of feature rich and use case specific distributions like MartPlug for small merchants selling physical products and Open Deals App, a Groupon clone.

In this session, Ryan Szrama will introduce you to Drupal Commerce, explaining the benefits of using it as the framework for your next e-commerce website or application. The session content and examples will be very practical, demonstrating how to use Drupal Commerce components and systems to accomplish routine e-commerce tasks.

Come learn how to:

  • Get up and running quickly with Commerce Kickstart
  • Add attribute fields to your product types
  • Let users customize products prior to purchase
  • Use product pricing rules for discounts and taxes
  • Collect shipping and discount / tax shipping costs
  • Invoice clients without requiring a shopping cart
  • Create your own distribution of Drupal Commerce

Prior experience with Drupal Commerce isn’t necessary, but you can always give it a try before the session with Commerce Kickstart on your local machine. It’s a distribution developed by Commerce Guys to help new users get started without having to understand how to configure the Commerce entities and fields from scratch.
